First World Tragedy
Do you want to hear about a first world tragedy?
This morning I got up and went to get myself ready,
still tired to death and short of breath I reached out cravingly
for that sacred jar of powdery starlight labelled with "coffee",
but as I lifted the lid, it was almost empty.
Inside was but barely enough left for a single cup,
and if I say "cup", I mean a "cup" and not a proper mug.
Thus, it came to pass that I was rather scared of messing up
when I took the jar and tilted tardy to avoid slip-up,
but as I took aim and squared up, I fucking spilled it.

Do you want to hear about a first world injustice?
When I moved into my new apartment I had to witness this:
euphoria made me conclude a brand-new contract with
just another DSL provider - I didn't want to miss
internet access for a day - but it took two weeks.

When finally the online spree could proceed at long last,
I logged into my former provider's customer care, asked
them to cancel my old contract since I moved in recent past,
and they told me they would book the matter, handle it as fast
as possible. Then it turned out - I'll pay one more year!
And I don't know how I'm supposed to believe
in a god permitting sorrow to good people like me.
All this pointless suffering and wasted grief
over coffee scarcity and other tragedies
makes me question the benevolence and the
plain sense of deity
