Crash-Land
When we first met the two of us still went to school
god, we were young,
we soon agreed that we were made for each other,
so it began
we swore we'd always be
this close, you and me,
but then what is eternity
when you just turned eighteen?
Stuff like staying up all night, or maybe
counting the days until the weekend saves me,
or the months until you're graduating,
or the hours 'til dusk, when we finally meet again.
We're falling,
hand in hand
through the sky and
as we crash-land
it all flickers, flickers,
hand in hand
for a brief moment
I see everything
from start to end
New city and a bunch new friends, new pretty dreams,
new master plan;
the cardboard boxes with our stuff still stacked atop
each other and
left untouched ever since
the two of us moved in,
there's just too much to learn and see
at university!
In between beers at the bar
and desperate tears at the library,
meeting our peers pre exam,
joining the cheers afterwards and we
are finally free,
we're finally free.
We're falling,
hand in hand
through the sky and
as we crash-land
it all flickers, flickers,
hand in hand
for a brief moment
I see everything
from start to end
How should we have known then
that everything
we imagined
would fall apart
way too soon and
without warning
draining the blood from
our beating hearts
The memories of all these years,
happy and fierce,
they're still with me,
and I know today that even though
it hurt me so
I would not change
even the smallest thing
never felt more alive than when
falling in
and out of love
again
we're falling,
hand in hand
through the sky and
as we crash-land
it all flickers, flickers,
hand in hand
for a brief moment
I see everything
from start to end
